As far I remember the manual said that is not allowed to change the coarse of grinder unless is turned on .
Right now I am in the process ?Are there any marks for alignement ?Can I damage something if I turn it on ?
Thanks,
Radu

Please, what exactly do you want to tell us?

Why are you curious about damaging by switching on? Is your machine disassembled?

If disassembled, remove the upper grinding ring and vacuum out the inners.
Without coffee beans in it, you can adjust as you want without blocking or damaging the mill.

If assembled, you can set coarser at any time, but finer only when the mill is spinning.
The mechanism is not designed to crunch the beans while standing still.
If you already set finer and havent switched on so far, set it coarse again, switch on and set finer when it spins.

Sorry but fast editing seems not to work here ..I have just received my machine from ebay , and striped down to the very last piece of plastic so I can give it a full cleaning .

Well , I set it to max coarse ,start the machine and while running set it to finer ,but the coffee is grounded too coarse . I try even to 16 position , back and fw , while running , the coffee is always too coarse .I even change the coffe type , but did not help ,the grind ajustment seems not to work .
Do I have to disamble the grinder and look for a fail ?
Thanks again

Okay , since no answers ,I had to disassemble myself the grinder, it was not hard at all but did nt find any fault .After reassembling ( 5th or 6th :p ) the grinder work as it should , but only in reverse , the finer is on low numbers .
And you know why ?Because the english version of user manual is wrong about adjusting the grind.,but the german one is good

Mahlstufe eingestellt; durch Drehen desKnopfes auf die niedrigeren Zahlen wird
die Mahlstufe verringert, durch drehen des Knopfes auf höhere Nummern wird die Mahlstufe erhöht

English version :turn the knob to lower numbers to obtain a coarser grind, turn the knob to higher numbers to obtain a finer grind.:(

Another fact about my machine from service menu : it is 8 years old and the coffee counter is over 12 000 !!
I was shocked !
Anyway , thanks for watching :D

Sorry that I didn't realize your initial understanding that higher numbers would give finder grinds (according to your manual...).

In fact there are many mistakes in the saeco users manuals, not only the english ones.
In some of them wrong buttons are told to press, in others they tell to activate menu-items which doesn't exist. Wrong declarations of the grinder settings are present in some german manuals, too.

Gratulations for your again working machine!
With 8 years and only 12 000 servings it usually can easily made to work like a new one with some o-rings and new grinder burrs. The grinder burrs wear on this machines is sort of "covered", as the mechanical doser following the grinder makes the volume of ground coffee a constant. Therefore the coffee doesn't get weak like on a jura, instead the taste is slowly moving towards the bitter side.

The oldest Saecos of the Magic/Royal/Vienna-line i've repaired were from 1993 and they are still running fine. My "Quick Mill 05000" is even a year older. Keep it up and running, even it it sounds like it would break while working, these machines are solid like tanks.
