Yes, the red circle jam should turn white when the hand is held close to the sensor board. To test, you can swap the sensor with the sensor from the water tank (rear side above the water heater).

Definitely the sensor, if I squeeze it hard in my fingers it does trigger but not on light contact.
Tried to reflow the whole PCB but no change.
Will have to order new. it's cheap but the shipping is more than the sensor itself

Are you good at soldering? Then unsolder the socket and check all the connections. There are only 3 components, not many sources of error.

Yes, it was all resoldered, no change.
There must be some faulty component that got damaged by the overflow of liquid.
The board was all black and gunky when I opened the door.
Do you think it would be good idea to protect the ne board with silicone sealant after installation?

If the hose at the coffee spout is now really tight, it will not be necessary to seal it additionally. If you want to be absolutely sure, stick a piece of duct tape over the sensor.

KUDOS to you for keeping me motivated!
I took it to the next level since there was nothing to lose
Bottom of the connector socket was completely "rotten" so I soldered some wires direct, since the middle lead goes under the connector.
Thickness of those wires is perfect to plug into the existing harness.
DONE and working!
